To save all that effort of clicking the small tickbox wouldn't it be gosh darn swell if you could just click the text beside the tickbox? You can! <input type="checkbox" id="option1" name="aid" value="1" /><label for="option1">First poll option</label>

This is supported on Mozilla, IE6, and surely countless others.

I was going to double dog dare someone to implement this live on Kuro5hin within five minutes, but I guess that time has passed. Darn it.
