And a suggestion that would probably make both of these questions very easy to solve :-)

My question is basically a repeat of a question I heard a while ago: how can we make a 'send this story to a friend' link to go with the stories?

And my suggestion is another special var that can be accessed from either story_summary or story_body called, say, current_sid. This would allow us to put something in the story_summary block like:

<A href="|rootdir|/comments/|current_sid|/0/post">Post a comment</A>

or a simple form that contains a hidden field with the value of current_sid and a visible field for entering the email address, along with a custom op and related box to send an email containing the current story.
