Replacing MySQL backend with DB2 or Oracle Developer Diary

Why does scoop have to be tied so tightly to MySQL? Isn't there a way to use a different database on the back end?

OK. I hate MySQL. So I'm going to see if I can make scoop a bit more database independent (that's really too bad that many of the cools stuff coming out, like search, are dependent on MySQL). So this week I'm taking my first pass through the scoop code and documentation for in intention of documenting the schema and then implementing it in DB2, initially, and then maybe Oracle.

Is the data schema already documented somewhere?

Also, I have some more thoughts on Wiki/Scoop integration that I'd like to get formalized and posted in the next couple of days.

Well, work was started on porting scoop to Postgres, but I haven't heard anything about it for a while now. I think it's a good idea to let scoop run on your favourite database (even though I don't have a favourite)

I don't know if the database schema is documented anywhere - at least, I haven't seen it - but if you do, I'm sure a contribution to the scoop administrator's guide would be appreciated.

The story Postgres Scoop has some discussion of the kinds of things that need changing to get away from mysql.
