Creating Scoop Sites on Shared Servers Feature Requests

I have an account on HostRocket.com. It's a shared hosting server. Is there any way to set up a Scoop site without root access?

I don't need step-by-step instructions, but just an explanation of what the problem with doing that is, and what I'd have to understand in order to figure out how to get it working.

is that you have to have full access to apache. Now, if you can get your own apache running on an unprivileged port, then yes, you can do it. You need to be able to properly stop and start apache to update the code, as well.

If they don't mind you running your own apache on some other port, then go right ahead; just remember to give out the port number as part of the address. (eg I have my dev scoop running on http://paradox.homeip.net:8080)

i used to host at Hostrocket, they won't even reply to an "install package on request" query, let alone go ahead and install them for you. They often don't even upgrade standard perl modules and the similar in time.

bitter experience. you'll just have to look around for a PHP/MySql substitute for scoop, and then install it yourself.
