Embellishing the User Info Page Feature Requests

Possibly the least interesting page in Scoop is the user info page; at the moment it is just a blank page with five links on it. To save visiting 5 different pages to find out about a user, I humbly suggest that it might be more useful if some summary info could be included on the page.

For example, what I see at the moment is:
  • View comments posted by nicklott
  • View nicklott's diary
  • View stories posted by nicklott
  • View comment ratings by nicklott
  • View advertisements submitted by nicklott
To give you a quick impression of the user it might be better to do the following:
  • View comments posted by nicklott (42 Posted / Avg Rating: 4.23)
  • View nicklott's diary (12 entries / 1 Comment)
  • View stories posted by nicklott (4 Submitted / 1 FP / 1 in Queue)
  • View comment ratings by nicklott (12 Comments / Avg: 3.54)
  • View advertisements submitted by nicklott (None Submitted)
The details of whether to display a user's rating etc can be argued over, but I think the principle is a good one.

Hmmm. (none / 0) (#1)

The problem with doing that is it would necessitate a database lookup from the info page, which would increase server load.

Does anybody have any stats on how often user info pages are accessed?

My personal beef is that I wish there was a spot on the user info page where one could list one's IM contacts (ICQ, AIM, MSN, Yahoo, etc.)

my complaint too (none / 0) (#3)

This is defiantely my biggest complaint as well, as regards the entire system. My current site is such that everything you need to see is always one click away, or at least some summary form. But as it scales larger, the database load has been a bitch to catch up with. Most of these should only be static lookups though, and should take effectively no time, unless they are done on tables that are updated frequently.
