A somewhat different use for Scoop.... The BookRags Essay Workshop is designed to help students help each other write school essays.

Every registered user can comment on essays in the moderation queue, but you can only view the rest of the essays we have online by gaining enough user points (a kludgy add-on I made) by making comments.  It's worked fairly well so far; users post their essays to be "workshopped" and other students post comments on the essays either for access or to be helpful.  A small community is growing fairly quickly, thanks to Scoop! http://www.bookrags.com/essays/
