With some help from the people on #scoop, OnRoad has entered strongly into a healthy infancy. A collaborative Automotive Engineering Journal, it has drawn some attention already. With articles on hot-rod mods as well as engineering theory and ideas to increase fuel efficiency, I'm very pleased with the results so far.

| I've gotten as much as 1,500 hits in a day with very active promotion. With no promotion I've never gone less then 36 hits. I find that it takes about 1,000 hits before I get a comment, but it will take much more momentum to get other contributing authors.
The main server is Gentoo Linux on a dual 233 PII computer. It was a pretty easy install when I figured out that I should emerge all the perlmods that I can rather then using CPAN.
I'm exploring the possibilities of allowing users to put advertisements into the signatures and stories. It is hoped that mod-shops will be encouraged to write comments and articles with the lure of advertising and exposure.
Its proving to be a bit more difficult then your average EZ-Board for luring activity from members. I'm currently re-working a few pieces of the interface to hopefully make things easier for the average wrench-head.
I'm not sure there is really much more to say other then "Thanks". I really appreaciate y'alls work. This web site has been a dream of mine for many years, and scoop is just about perfect out of the box for it. |
