Movable Type/TypePad and Scoop Consultant Needed

MensNewsDaily.com (MND) is a tabloid-style news and commentary website that receives over 1 million page views per month. The site contains over 8000 unique HTML pages, and is managed using DreamWeaver and server-side includes.

MND is looking for a skilled web developer familiar with Movable Type / Typepad blog software, and with the collaborative media software application SCOOP.

The project will be divided in two phases.

PHASE I: Implement a MoveableType/Typepad solution for the daily management of the MND homepage and exisiting content pages. This would entail the customization of the content management software to:

  • Reflect the tabloid style look-and-feel of MND
  • Enable rapid manual updates of news stories and commentaries, and
  • Provide a means for automatically archiving older news links and commentaries.

MND's existing 8000 pages of content would need to be effectively ported into the content management system while preserving the ability of search engines to index, identify and link to these pages. Search engine compatibility must be maintained for both legacy content and for the new content added daily to the website.

Naturally the new version of MND will provide enhanced features such as:

  • Registered User Comments
  • Number of Times Article is Viewed
  • Ability to Email/Print Article
  • Trackback
  • Additional Features

PHASE II: Implement a Scoop-based collaborative media environment to encourage the participation of MND's community of writers, readers, and forum denizens. Registered users to the Scoop wing of MND should be able to customize their own personal blog diaries, and essentially to create a customizable personal home page.

I'm curious (none / 0) (#1)

Are you planning on having both MT and Scoop operating side by side? What advantages are there to that (much more complicated) setup over choosing one or the other and letting it run the entire site?
