I wrote this email to "janra@paradox.null" but it was sent back. Maybe it has something to do with his ".null" at the end of his email, which I would guess he put on there because he doesn't want spam. Anyway, here is what I wrote:

I'm in the same position as the person who posted the story. I'm a frequent user of www.dailykos.com and I felt inspired to run my own site for class action lawyers. I had a choice between Moveable Type and Scoop and I choose Scoop because I want people to be able to post their own stories and generally I like the concept of everyone "updating the stories."
But I'm having a lot of trouble figuring it out. I've tried to read the Admin guide, and I just get confused. For example, "Read This Section First!" http://scoop.kuro5hin.org/guide/1_1Read_This.html says:
There are no .html files for you to edit. All customization is done through the web interface.
You must have root or root-equivalent access to the web server. If you don't and can't get it, there are a few companies that will host a Scoop site for you.
Okay, I know what html is and I know what it means to have all customization done through the webinterface (I ran a blog on blogger for a few months). But I don't know what "root or root-equivalent access" is. Likewise, I don't know what "To start with, though it sounds small, you need the full expat." means, but it sure does freak me out.
So, here is my big question. Would you or someone you know be willing to help me learn this? I'm willing to pay a reasonable fee. Without some guidance, this is going to be a big time vortex.
Basically, I just want to get it set up and then not really mess with it except for posting plain text articles/entries that I've written.
