Diary entries on front page Feature Requests

Is there any switch or non-coding way to get diary entries to display on the front page?

I run a small scoop site called Unnnamedsite, which is fairly low volume. I just recently moved the hosting to xlan but they're having some problems responding to my support questions in a timely manner. Because of this, I'm not sure a) where the scoop code is on the server box and b) whether I can change it at all.

This probably isn't what you mean.... (none / 0) (#1)

I use the Recent Diaries box on my front page. You can find it over at the Scoop Box Exchange

But you probably want the user diaries in your center table. If all your users are going to be trusted, you could just lock down the perms on the user group and elevate everyone else to editors. That way they can still pick topics and categories, instead of all being diaries.

Also, as far as XLAN goes, I have had nothing but good experiences with them. But to do some serious Scoop work, you might need to upgrade to the Super account so you can get your own process.

You can do this manually (none / 0) (#2)

By editing the story and setting display to "Always display" rather than "Display within section" This requires the ability to edit stories though. If you're looking for an automatic option there isn't one just yet.

Just so it's noted - the issues we had were tied to some screwy DNS issues.

Sorry - had to include :-)

On topic though - if you want that set up, I can do it for you.  Drop me an email.

Sounds like a Wishlist item to me. (none / 0) (#5)

You might consider submitting a wishlist item to this site detailing how you think it should work.

Also, talk to Cory King. He is currently advocating a mode of Scoop called "Lite" that sounds similar to what you are asking for. Check out his site www.photographica.org for a preview of what it might look like.

I for one think this is a great idea since Scoop can be overwhelming to non-technical users.
