We are working on a pilot project that will include a scoop site. An exhibition copy is located at http://www.unhprofs.org. If the powers that be like it, we will move it behind a firewall. Sorry to make a posting announcing a temporary site, butI wanted to give the folks working on scoop some sort of public credit!

By the way, I ran into a problem with mysql that was not associated with scoop, but the problem came up when I upgraded some of the packages for the scoop install. I am running a freebsd system and installed the mysql client and server packages through the ports collection. Prior to this everything had been fine and working with no problems. At some point either DBI or DBD::mysql broke on me, and scoop could not connect to the database. I ended up having to change the passwords associated with the scoop databse to mysql's old style hashing algorithm. The information I used to diagnose and fix the problem can be found at http://dev.mysql.com/doc/mysql/en/Old_client.html.

Finally, I am really happy with scoop. I have tried slash and geeklog. Scoop is much easier and more intuitive to use than slash, and I have been able to get started and make customizations with scoop that would have taken much longer with slash. So far it seems to be a more robust and more complete package than geeklog. Scoop is also easier to customize than geeklog. The only things that geeklog has that I miss in scoop is the calendar facility and an easy was to include pictures with stories.

All in all I am very happy with scoop. Keep up the great work y'all!

Including pictures with stories: file uploads and macros (the example for macros is actually on how to allow images in stories but only those images uploaded by the user...)

Calendar: on the way - it still needs testing, but it has been written.

Glad to hear you like Scoop!
